Welcome in the Fertő / Neusiedler Lake World Heritage
The area of the Fertő and Hanság is a particularly beautiful island of nature in the western gate of Hungary. The entire Lake Fertő/Neusiedlersee, both the Hungarian and the Austrian parts, was pronounced as joint World Heritage int he year of 2001.
In the Hungarian part including The Fertő-Hanság National Park and the ten sorrounding villages Sarród, Fertőd, ( With the Esterhazy Castle ) Fertőszéplak, Hegykő, Fertőhomok,
Hidegség, Fertőboz, Nagycenk ( with the part of Kiscenk/ Castle of the Szechenyi’s ) Balf ( Sopron) and Fertőrákos.
Three zones were established in the national park according to the specifications of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources).
The remaining areas of these once huge swamp and moorlands are sanctuaries of unique botanical, zoological, landscape, folklore, and ethnographical values.
The Fertő-Hanság National Park (in Hungarian: Fertő-Hanság Nemzeti Park) in a national Park in North-West Hungary in Győr-Moson-Sopron county. It was created in 1991, and officially opened together with the connecting Austrian Neusiedler See National Park the same year. The park covers 235.88 km2.
Lake Fertő is the third largest lake in Central-Europe, and the westernmost of the great continental salt lakes of Eurasia.Lenght 35 Km spread 7- 15 Km deepness 50 – 180 cm,
surface 309 Km2. Inlet burns are Wulka and Rákos. Water, rippling reed beds, sweeping meadows with flat saltwater pools - this ist the National Park known as the Neusiedler See Lakes Area. The Pannonian climate with its long growing period and its position between the Alps and the Puszta determine the type of plant life: mosaics of dry meadow surrounded by wetlands and salt marshes. The National Park is full of wildlife, mainly birds: meadow sandpipers, geese, herons, storks, curlews and birds of prey. The mammal most popular amongst visitors is the funny little suslik, or ground squirrel, that lives in the short grass of the pastures.
Hegykő
The origin of the name: First wroten relic from 1262 IGKU ( Saint Stone ) the name in German is the same Heiligenstein. this name come fom ancient hungarian language that means saint or God. So the story runs, they found a paganish sancrificial stone and built it in
to the altar of the christian church, its magical force to vindicate God’s house.
Hegykő located in the middle of the hungarian lakeside of the Neusiedler Lake ( Fertő –tó ).
Hegykő is the stamping ground the visitors who wants to know this area. The varied accomodation offers from villager guesthouses to wellness Pensions reach out. Each guest can
find something to one’s taste. Our thermal Bath ( Spa ) is also a great fascination for the visitors who looking for healing and recreation, open in whole year. We get the thermal water
from deepness of 1434 m, with 55 °C to the spa.

MARBEN Guesthouse, this excellent, family-centred accommodation for relaxing, only 300 metres from the thermal spa bath, is awaiting its guests with 11 double rooms, one room with three beds and two apartments. Two rooms and one apartment is suitable for guests with wheelchairs. Every room has air-conditioning, television with satellite channels, telephone, Internet access ( wlan ) , safe, fridge and minibar.
For your resting, we have a sauna, and infra sauna, solarium and massage. Activities: Tennis court, sommer pool, to make excursions, we have bikerental. For bikers the lake sorrounding cycle path awaiting 50 meters from the Pension.

How to find us? By car: from Budapest on the highway M1 to Győr and than on the Mainroad
nr. 85 to the way to Sopron untill Hegykő crossing. In the village follow our signs. pass the Patak street. GPS coordinates 47°37’17” / 16°47’24”. From Vienna ont he highway A2 to crossing A3 course Eisenstadt , than theway to Sopron, than on he mainroad 84 to the crossing Nagycenk to the mainroad 85 untill Hegykő crossing.
